Split Natures from Joel Schreiner on Vimeo.
There are moments in life where most of us have looked back and thought about choices we have made: what things would change, what would we do differently, what we would have avoided. “Split Natures” is about the choices we can make and how they’d each play out. The four figures in the video represent major choices I could have made in life, and what I could have looked like as a result of them. There are four that are depicted, but these are only a few ripples on the surface of the lake.
Inspired by Michael Snow’s piece “Sshtoorrty”, “Split Natures” is an interpretation of how different events can occur within the same space. Rather than overlaying a linear progression of two events, it depicts multiple ones relying on cropping the video instead.
