Think about the American proverb “make love, not war”, but with art—throughout history, art has been repossessed and dismantled to be reused in the making on weaponry. This is why there are very few bronze sculptures from ancient Europe, and as a result of World War I, George Méliès’ films were melted down to recover the silver and celluloid—the latter was then used in heels for shoes. So rather than repurposing art to create weapons, the weapon is being repurposed to create art. This animation was inspired by the flipbook process of frame-by-frame drawings to create an animated progression of images.
